Set Apart

Will was set apart as a missionary on Tuesday, August 13th, 2019.
It was a special evening for our family and Will's close friends. President David Stewart and his wife Karri, our good friends and Will's doctor, who've known Will all his life came to be with us to take care of the setting apart.  We opened with prayer and then the setting apart took place.  It was a powerful experience to hear the words "set apart as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!" It was official, now he would need to keep the mission rules, always have a companion with him and wear missionary attire.  Even more powerful were some beautiful promises to trust in the Lord....that if Will was meant to go to Edmonton while he waited for his visa to come through--that is what would happen. Promises that if he was obedient that he would be blessed with success and growth. Encouragement to be confident in himself and his abilities, and that with the Savior, Jesus Christ by his side he could do all things!

The tears came easy for both of us as parents as we watched our firstborn son become a missionary. President Stewart then asked Elder Boehme's Mother and Father to share their testimonies, as well as Elder Boehme to share his too! This was a special experience and one to never be forgotten.  Our family had recently been through a very difficult trial, one that had taught us all to lean heavily on our Savior for healing and miracles. The words shared were tender and the Spirit of the Lord was very strong.  It was a special day to always remember.....and the next morning we would have to say good-bye to our missionary.  Only with the Lord's help would it be possible to do something so terribly wonderful!! For no matter how hard it will be to say goodbye, there is no place on earth we would rather he be than fulfilling his commitment to the Lord and serving a full-time mission.
